Happy Thanksgiving!

Remember the old song, "Over the River and Through The Woods"? I was nostalgic in remembering those words this week as my Mom, Dad and I traveled northward from Georgia via South Carolina to my sister's in the Cleveland, Ohio area. With every rest and gas stop, the temperatures were a little cooler as we drove through South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and finally Ohio. We arrived in the Cleveland area on Monday afternoon after visiting with relatives overnight in Columbus. I was born in Columbus. It's been years since my last visit to Columbus. This trip was a good opportunity for us to visit our roots. Both my maternal and fraternal grandparents lived in Columbus for many years. I couldn't resist driving by the old homesteads of my Grandma and Grandpa Hibbard's and Arnsbargers. I was pleased and proud to see that new owners of their homes have taken very good care of the homes that we used to travel "over the river and through the woods" to so many years ago for our traditional family gatherings. Everything looked really good to me which warmed my heart! Wherever you travel to this Thanksgiving, whatever you do tomorrow and during this weekend, I hope you'll be remembering your roots with fondness and enjoy your family too. I'm of course looking forward to the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Cowboy's, Lions and Patriots football games and the dog show too! I'll enjoy bonding and quality time around my family. I love turkey! I'll enjoy my turkey dinner with all the fixing's immensely and I'll take a well-intentioned walk to drop the calories afterward. Between all the festivities I'll remember to pray for PEACE both here and around the world! And, I'll give thanks for my many blessings. And, I'll remember you too with fondness! Happy Thanksgiving to you and those whom you Love this Thanksgiving and holiday season! Over the river and thru the wood, To grandfather's house we go; The horse knows the way To carry the sleigh, Thru the white and drifted snow, oh! Over the river and thru the wood, Oh, how the wind does blow! It stings the toes, And bites the nose, As over the ground we go Over the river and thru the wood, To have a first-rate play; Oh, hear the bell ring, "Ting-a-ling-ling!" Hurrah for Thanksgiving Day-ay! Over the river and thru the wood, Trot fast my dapple gray! Spring over the ground, Like a hunting hound! For this is Thanksgiving Day.
